Intelligent Healthcare was founded by Paul Katz in 1990 to serve the data analysis needs of health maintenance organizations, hospitals, medical groups and independent practice associations. Mr. Katz has developed highly refined analytical models for managed health care cost and utilization, capitation rate models, and quality indicators used for physician profiling, enabling many physician groups to work successfully under capitation. Prior to establishing Intelligent Healthcare, Mr. Katz worked for the actuarial consulting firm of Milliman and Robertson, Inc., headed managed care consulting for Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young), and has held senior positions at National Medical Enterprises, Health Net of California, and FHP International, Inc. (now PacifiCare). He has written widely on the issues of managed care practices and data management and lectures regularly at the Annual Institute of the American Association of Health Plans and other industry trade meetings. Mr. Katz graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in mechanical engineering and completed his MBA at Boston University.
